If you haven't watched my 1-2-3 steps to online marketing video,
I highly recommend it: http://www.promodashboard.com/video

I don't know what kind of year you had in 2009. My theme this
past year was “produce and promote.”  You either trade time
for dollars or products for dollars.

And it's liberating to trade products for dollars instead
of time.  In 2010, I'll have a NEW theme! I want to take this
one step further.

If you had a great 2009, you likely had one or more products
you traded for dollars instead of your time.

If you had a crummy 2009, you probably stayed caught in
the TRAP.

I see a lot of confusion and overwhelm in posts on my blog
and in forums.

I've been here all year with a clear message and I'm ending
the year on this message:

The way out of the trap is to make the transition from
trading your time for dollars to trading products for
dollars.

There are 3 steps to doing that:

Step one:    Target
Step two:    Create freebie
Step three:  Launch

In this article I'll cover a few key points about each of
the 3 steps.

Step one:  Target

If you haven't selected your target market yet, the thing
I recommend is start with something you're interested in
or have a passion about.

That makes it more fun to write emails and jointly create
products.

Now, if you're going to outsource your product creation,
you CAN begin with a target market you don't care about.
Ryan Deiss does this. Kirt Christensen does it.

If you're creating products yourself, I know it's old
school. But I still advise you to pick something you won't
get sick of talking aboout after 6 weeks.

There are 7 things you need to know about your target
market. Here are three of the most important:

a.  Are they buyers?

You want people who buy stuff over and over, and preferably
like to spend a lot on the passion.  Competition isn't
bad. It means people are spending money.

This is a good thing.

b.  Can you reach them?

Do they have forums they go to, social networks they
participate in and so forth?

c.  Can you get products to sell them?

Are there existing affiliate products?  Can you create joint
venture products to reach them?  Do you have enough interest
in the market to create products for it?

Step Two:  Create freebie

You gotta have your squeeze page where people input an
email address to get a freebie.

See http://www.bestofmarlonsanders.com as an example.

Another one I launched for Christmas was:
http://www.jinglesongs.com

That WENT to bestofmarlonsanders.com.

That web site was publisized on the following web sites in the past few days:

Music Industry Today
EIN News
Consumer News Today
News Blaze
Podcasting News Articles
New Age PR News
Music Recording PR News
Parenting PR News
Entrepreneur PR News

MP3 PR News

Washington Times
WCCO-TV

Your freebie can be a collection of articles or blog posts you turn
into a PDF.  It can be audio or video.  It can be a piece of
software you have created.

The mind is the only limit.

You need something people GET in exchange for giving you their email
address — other than the promise of emails of which there really is
no scarcity.

Another freebie I launched is the one at promodashbaord.com/videos.
That's one too except it had a squeeze page in FRONT of it.

http://www.promodashboard.com/win300.html

If your freebie doesn't work, create a another.  Give it a new
title and a new topic.  Once you get some experience under your
belt you can do screen capture videos or 7-page reports on a tightly
focused topic fast.

The KEY to your freebie is to solve a specific problem or offer a
result others want.

It's about teaching “how to do something” specific.

Can you show someone else HOW to do something that they don't know
how to do?

If you can create 7 steps on how to solve a specific problem and
you can talk 3 minutes about each of those 7 steps, you have a 21
minute video.

If you can write one page about each step, you have a 7-page PDF.

There are lots of other little tricks and secrets of coming up with
killer freebie ideas, throwing them together fast and so forth.
This just scratches the surface.

I just want to show you it's DOABLE.

This IS something you…yeah….that's right….little ol' you
can do. And you don't have to give up football watching, soap
operas or that Idol show to do it.

If you can talk into the computer for 3 minutes a night, in 7 days
you have a 21-minute freebie.

If you can write one page a day, in 7 days you have a 7-page PDF.

What happened to your overwhelm?  Where did it go?  See, the King
of Step-By-Step Marketing exists to light the path and show you
the way through the cloud of confusion to the other side.

Step three:  Launch

Launch your freebie.  That's what I did to get jinglesongs on the
list above. I did a little pr blast.

Took me all of 20 or 30 minutes.

I LAUNCHED the above freebie to my resellers at:
http://www.resellerupdate3.com

user:  holiday
pass:  promo

I LAUNCHED the pr blast for jinglesongs.

You launch.

If you took my Produce and Promote course, I have a little piece
of content in there (a video or article…I don't remember) on
how to make sales just by participating in forums.

====================
Your Bonus Christmas
“Pay The Bills” Plan
====================

I want to give you some simple ways to LAUNCH.  There are
lots of ways to do it … and you do what you WANT. What
you like. What you're good at.

Here are examples of how to launch.  The main work is
posting 5-10 times a day in a few forums and commenting on
5-10 blogs a day.

Can you write 50 words 7 times a day? Then you can post one
time each in 7 forums a day.

Can you comment 5-10 days on blogs about what someone else
has written without sounding like an idiot?  If you can, you're
off to a fast start.

NEVER promote your product in these posts.

Help. Comment.  Assist. Then link to your freebie or a blog
post on a related article you pasted there from helping somone
in a forum.

In other words, you get paid to help people and interact socially
for 30 minutes a day.  Maybe an hour a day.

a.  You put your squeeze page in the signature of your profile on
each forum.  You offer your enticing freebie.

Most forums allow a thing called a signature which is a link to
your web site or blog and a little text.

b. Now you just post in the forum HELPING people.

You do NOT pitch.

You pop into 3-5 forums a day and HELP people. They'll see your
freebie in your signature.

They'll end up on your squeeze page.

Now you have some people on your list.

c. Turn your forum posts into blog posts

Then you take some of your forum posts helping people,
expand them a little, and stick 'em on your blog.

Now you can refer to those posts in other forum posts.
They're just content you send people to on your blog.
But each post has a link to your squeeze page.

d.  You take the blog posts and switch 'em up some
and post them to a few ezine article directories.

e.  You add a few of 'em together and now you have
a new freebie for a squeeze page.

f.  On your Facebook status updates, Twitter messages,
Myspace bulletins and other web 2.0 properties, let
people know about your freebies.

g.  Post on 5-10 blogs a day making intelligent
comments and include a link to your freebie or
an article on your blog on the topic.

This is a SIMPLE way to LAUNCH your freebie. It's not
going to turn you into “The Donald” but it'll get your feet wet.

h.  Now you should be getting some people on your
list.  Send out emails reviewing products.

Start a little ezine, even though they're old school
and not many people do 'em anymore.

Instead, they post the equivalent of an ezine on a blog
and call it a “blog post.”

It's all the same thing.

It's content that gives people a reason to read what you
write and stay on your list. And demonstrates you know
something about what you're talking aboout.

i.  If you get a good squeeze page that starts getting
15% or more people to subscribe, you can try running Google ads for it.

j.  In addition, you can do ad swaps with others who
have a squeeze page.  Just go to online forums and see who has lists.

Tell 'em you'll email their squeeze page to your 100-500
people if they email theirs.

See, when you're posting in forums, you'll see who has
lists.  You're bound to make some friends if you have a
small modicum of social skills.

Really, this point it's art. music, a painting or a
mix.

You mix and match.

You keep doing what works and stop doing what doesn't.

A closing tribute

I close out 2009 thinking of Jim Rohn, the famed inspirational
speaker so many benefitted from:

May the road rise to meet you. May the wind always be at
your back. The sun shine warm upon your face. The rain
fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, may
God hold you in the hollow of his hands.
